Sarah Renehan and Project Brain Drain Update

A couple months ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to share the incredible, amazing, inspiring story of Sarah Renehan, who has hydrocephalus but doesn’t let her disability stop her from performing in her band, Calling Utopia, and raising money for the Hydrocephalus Association through Project Brain Drain. I know Sarah from Twitter, and I tweeted her and asked if she’d like to provide an update on what she’s been up to and the status of Project Brain Drain. She happily said yes, so here’s Sarah with an update on her rockin’ life, her band and Project Brain Drain.

The last three months have been really busy for me. I have been working to raise $1,500 for the Hydrocephalus Association. I figured because I have already had most of my head shaved, and I’m in a rock band, that I would have some fun! To get people involved, I put my hand up and said that I would get a mohawk when we reached our target of $1,500. I have now reached that goal and a little bit more. The overall goal for Project Brain Drain’s fundraising mark for the Hydrocephalus Association is $10,000.

In November, with the help of a lot of awesome friends and bands, we will party with a day of music!!! MusiK MayheM consists of 10 really awesome bands and artists, and I’m so excited and grateful that so many people have put their hands up to help me out!

Band Lineup

MusiK MayheM will be held at the Millicent Civic and Arts Center, Sunday, November 20 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. All ages are invited to attend.

  2. Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing James. I am very proud of Sarah for enjoying her life and not letting hydrocephalus take over every moment of her thoughts. What a great example for others in our world. 🙂
