Everyday Beauty

As you may already know by now, if you’ve read my blog, I’ve been working with my company for about four years (this June will be four), and one of the best things I get to do is take pictures a couple times a week around town.

When I started my job in June 2007, I didn’t really know all the nuances and tricks of taking pictures, but as time has passed, I’ve basically self-taught myself and picked up a lot of beneficial information from my supervisor about the rule of thirds, auto focusing my shots and composition.

Now that I’ve become sort of a “pro” taking pictures, I’ve become more aware of what would make an interesting shot, have really tuned into my “inner being” and God’s beauty and have discovered that taking pictures really has helped me overcome some inner demons and obstacles I deal with because of my disability. When I am behind the camera, I can almost feel God’s presence with me and forget all about my struggles and my disability. When I’m in tune with God, His amazing beauty and the love He has for me, nothing matters but me, my camera and getting to spend a few precious hours with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This page will be an ongoing project, as I post pictures of people, places and things that make this world a wonderful, amazing, BEAUTIFUL place to live. Stay tuned and please, please let me know what you think about my pictures. I would absolutely love to know if there are pictures you especially like and if there are certain pictures you’d like me to try to take. Thanks!!

  1. Absolutely fantastic Jason and I am so thrilled that you have taken up this hobby. You will start to see life differently. So proud of you Jason and I love you.

    • Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Have you seen the rest of the blog? I’d love to know more about you and possibly feature you as a guest host one day. Interested? You can write about anything you want. Let me know. Jason @Jason_Bournesm on Twitter

    • Thank you Shauna. I love taking pictures and have gotten a lot better at framing my shots and deciding what would make a good one… I see the world a lot differently since I started taking pictures. And you know, it’s funny because before I started at my current job, I knew absolutely nothing about taking pictures. I have basically self-taught myself the past four years… God bless and much love.

      • That’s great that you have been able to learn on your own. I am also not one to take many pics.. and usually cant center anything.. but i really enjoy looking at peoples pics and see the depth of their views.. They speak to you in a way nothing else does.. Some of them make you feel peace and I love that!!

  2. Great photos, Jason! Perhaps you are destined to share photos on Flickr.com. wonderful, friendly photo space as well. Click Explore, and you’ll see some of the most beautiful photos in the world.

  3. First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I’ve had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Many thanks!

  4. Jason, love your blog and love your photographs! The deer is the park is one of my favorites and I like the dogs too. You are talented! Thank you for sharing your story and your photographs! Hugs and love to you this day!

  5. I love the photos! Especially the German shepherd and the other dog photos. I also liked the flags and deer photos. You are very talented. God bless you, Jason!

    • Thank you Raeann. I think God really guides my shots. Some of the ones I’ve taken really have surprised me… I’m honored to share my vision with others through photography.

  6. i can’t see the photo, as you know Jason, but i loved what you said about spending time with God and how he can use an activity to help us be closer to him etc. I reckon the photos would be awesome though. Might have to get Joe to have a look one of these days soon.
